An Update

Hi all and Happy Easter!

I've made a few changes I just remembered I should mention.  I started pulling videos due to being either a bit dated, or that it seemed like a good idea after being posted awhile.

I only have two videos now on Google video, and I pulled my videos from Tangle video.  Tangle changed a bit since GodTube.  They are quick to block - as before - uploaded videos even if the stuff you would have in it is in reality ok.  Since their change they have been a bit more glitchy.

They are quick to block on MySpace as well.  It took forever to be able to remove a blocked video too.  I only have two videos there as well - the same ones on Facebook.

I was immediately blocked with Spike - and are more extreme in their content - which I secretly suspect is why I had trouble.  So I'm not hanging out over there.

The BEST admin options - and video handling - is on YouTube.  So I'm pretty much staying there.  I decided to thin out some of my listings however.  I'm having a bit of trouble keeping up with the changes being made on YouTube which I mostly like.

Google Video made at least one change - the one I saw so far is that you can no longer upload videos last I checked.    So what you have there is all that you can have.  They assured that my videos were ok, but I pulled one just to make sure.  [hopefully at some point they might consider offering memberships to be able to do that - I wouldn't mind paying a small fee.]

I'm not happy about it either.  They were the ONLY video site that you can upload large videos.  So I have to simply be satisfied with 10 minute videos.

It doesn't work well at all as far as sermons.  I had put together a video that I thought was pretty good, but can't upload it due to being to large.  Putting it in 'parts' is inconvenient.

Sermon of the Prodigal Son

  Hi all:

I'm posting the link for my [*newest] Google Video. I started using RadioTime, and I like it a lot.  I can record stuff that I am usually too preoccupied to sit and listen to or to remember it is on. Very cool.

I recorded a sermon from 'Voice Of Holiness Evangelistic Hour', but I did not get the chance to record the entire sermon - to my dismay. The sermon topic is the Prodigal Son.

I have been having computer problems this week from a clever bug - which is an entire another story - so my RadioTime player did not record like it was supposed to until I pulled it up.

I really like this Church, and discovered them while driving around listening to WFIL 560AM - my local Christian station.

Here is the video info:

President's Weekly Radio Address - December 27, 2008

[Dec 28, 08 - 11:23 PM]

For Immediate Release
Office of the Press Secretary
December 23, 2008

President's Radio Address
President George W. Bush

THE PRESIDENT: Good morning. This week, millions of Americans gather with loved ones for Christmas. This is a season of hope and joy. And it is an occasion to remember a humble birth that has helped shape the world for more than two thousand years.

One of the things that makes Christmas special is that it allows us to step back and take stock of what is truly meaningful in our lives. As years pass by, we often forget about the gifts and the parties, but we remember special moments with families and friends.

This year, as you spend time with those you love, I hope you'll also take time to remember the men and women of our armed forces. Every one of them has volunteered to serve our Nation. And with their incredible sacrifices, they preserve the peace and freedom that we celebrate during this season.

This tradition of service is as old as our Nation itself. In 1776, it looked as if America's first Christmas as an independent Nation might also be its last. After a series of crippling defeats by the British, George Washington's army was exhausted and disheartened. With their terms of service expiring in just a few weeks, many soldiers were planning on leaving the army. And it seemed that without a miracle, America's fight for freedom would be doomed.

That miracle took place on Christmas night, 1776. George Washington planned a surprise attack on the enemy forces camped across the Delaware River in Trenton, New Jersey. Under the cover of darkness, he led a few thousand soldiers across the icy waters in the midst of a driving snowstorm. Most generals would not have taken such a risk. But the commitment of Washington and his men was absolute. They headed into battle with a bold password -- "Victory or death."

In a matter of hours, victory was theirs. Morale immediately improved. And the American people began to believe that our Nation possessed the perseverance and courage to protect our liberty. The turnaround that began that night would end with the United States' triumph in the American Revolution -- and the permanent establishment of a free Nation.

Two hundred and thirty-two years have passed since George Washington crossed the Delaware. But on this Christmas, his legacy lives on in the men and women of the United States military. Some of them are spending this holiday helping defend emerging democracies like Iraq and Afghanistan. Others are spending it in lands where we defeated tyranny long ago, such as Germany or Japan. And some of them are spending it stateside, recovering in places like Bethesda National Naval Medical Center or Walter Reed.

Regardless of where they are, our men and women in uniform and the families who support them remind us of a clear lesson: Defending freedom is a full-time job. Our enemies do not take holidays. So the members of our armed forces stand ready to protect our freedom at any hour. For their service, they have the thanks of a grateful Nation -- this Christmas and always.

Thank you for listening.

God is neither Democrat nor Republican from Pastor Timothy Schwartz

Hi all:

In the spirit in the first week of Lent:

I found this sermon from Pastor Timothy Schwartz when I was doing a bit of YouTube channel surfing.  I like this a lot.

Psalm 82
1 God standeth in the congregation of the mighty; he judgeth among the gods.
2 How long will ye judge unjustly, and accept the persons of the wicked? Selah.
3 Defend the poor and fatherless: do justice to the afflicted and needy.
4 Deliver the poor and needy: rid them out of the hand of the wicked.
5 They know not, neither will they understand; they walk on in darkness: all the foundations of the earth are out of course.
6 I have said, Ye are gods; and all of you are children of the most High.
7 But ye shall die like men, and fall like one of the princes.
8 Arise, O God, judge the earth: for thou shalt inherit all nations.

AP alleges copyright infringement of Obama image

I'm posting this here on my video journal, because I think to be relevant to active copyright discussion occurring around YouTube.  This article touches on the topic of 'fair use'.  It should be interesting to see what the outcome is with such a high profile case.  It's pretty common practice I think just for photo searches around the net.  Many sites are updating to make it more difficult to snap photos.

My idea of 'fair use' was using something for non-profit, humanitarian causes, to promote understanding, education and such.  I also believed it to be interpretative - which this article confirms.

If for instance a person uses someone's likeness for something, or to promote someone, they don't agree with they would assert to take it down.  Even Senator McCain had trouble with this one, and had to redo some stuff to remove certain artists from one of his YouTube promo videos.  Was I surprised - no.

Helping A Hero is a non-profit, non-partisan organization created to fund programs and services which will provide financial, emotional, educational, mentoring, recreational and scholarship support for severely injured military personnel and their families.

Severely wounded and disabled War on Terror veterans have special challenges everyday. They must adjust to their new circumstances and they need our help. Emotionally our wounded heroes need to know that every American appreciates the sacrifices our wounded heroes have made. Financially our wounded heroes deserve every American’s support to help pay for everyday living expenses, not to mention their new special needs such as retrofitting a house for a wheelchair.

- A veteran salutes as President George W. Bush speaks during ceremonies honoring Veterans Day at Arlington National Cemetery Nov. 11, 2004. "Our veterans are drawn from several generations and many backgrounds. They're Americans who remember the swift conflict of the Persian Gulf War; and a long Cold War vigil; the heat of Vietnam and the bitter cold of Korea. They are veterans in their 80s, who served under MacArthur and Eisenhower and saved the liberty of the world," said the President. White House Photo by Paul Morse

President George W. Bush holds the badge of a police officer killed in the September attacks. "And I will carry this," said President Bush during his address to Congress Sept. 20. "It is the police shield of a man named George Howard, who died at the World Trade Center trying to save others. It was given to me by his mom, Arlene, as a proud memorial to her son. This is my reminder of lives that ended, and a task that does not end."
